Why this site exists

Most AI tool directories optimize for volume. They list whatever gets submitted, copy the marketing blurb off the vendor's homepage, and move on. That is fine for counting entries and useless for deciding what to actually install. This directory is built for the narrower audience that wants to know what a tool really does, what hardware it needs, what its license permits, and whether it is still maintained.

The emphasis is on open source and self hostable software. Commercial developer infrastructure is included when it is genuinely useful to builders, and it is labeled plainly so nobody mistakes a proprietary service for an open one.

How tools get listed

Entries come from two places: our own research sweeps of the ecosystem, and public submissions. Nothing is published automatically. Every candidate is checked against its official repository or project site before it appears, and a submission that cannot be verified is rejected.

We reject listings that impersonate a real project, point at a keyword squatted domain rather than the official source, or exist mainly to farm links. When we find entries like that already published, we remove them.

How descriptions are written

Every description on this site is written for this site. We do not paste vendor copy, and we do not republish README files. Each entry is researched against primary sources, the project repository, the model card, the license file, and the official documentation, then written up to cover what the tool does and how, what ships with it, the practical hardware and install requirements, the licensing and commercial use position, and who it is actually for.

Facts that carry weight get verified independently before publication. That includes license names, VRAM figures, parameter counts, benchmark numbers, and release dates. Where a claim cannot be substantiated from a primary source, we describe the behavior qualitatively instead of repeating a number we cannot stand behind.

Corrections, updates, and removals

Software moves. Repositories get archived, licenses change, projects get renamed or absorbed. We periodically re-check listings and update or remove entries that have gone stale. If you maintain a project and something on its page is wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Maintainers can also claim their listing to manage it directly.

Removal requests from project owners are honored. Copyright complaints are handled through our DMCA policy.

Ratings and reviews

Ratings come from readers, not from us. Leaving one requires a verified email address so that scores reflect people rather than scripts. We do not sell placement in ratings, and a tool's position in any ranked list is not for sale.

How the site is funded

The directory is free to use and free to be listed in. Our disclosures page covers how the site is funded, including any advertising or affiliate relationships, and the privacy policy explains what data is collected and what you can turn off. Payment never buys a listing, a rating, or a favorable description.
